Manicurist
Course
Upon completing the Manicurist Course at The Ivy Institute of Nail Technology, graduates will gain a wealth of knowledge and practical experience and can enter a career with opportunities to become an educator, entrepreneur, or sales representative for a major company.
Course Overview
Manicurist students must complete 600 clock hours of instruction required of an applicant for a license to practice nails according to the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners for a license. These are the required units of study.
General
150 Clock Hours
Includes Orientation, Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barbers Examiners Law, infection control, general anatomy and physiology, skin and nail structures, diseases, and disorders, business skills, salon management, career planning, and ethics.
Chemical
Includes nail product chemistry/usage and ingredients, monomer liquid and polymer powder nail enhancements, adhesives, and primers.
100 Clock Hours
Physical
Includes massage movements and manipulations, manicuring, pedicuring, electric filing, nail tips and forms, gel enhancements, nail wraps, nail art, and nail safety.
350 Clock Hours

Our school engages a variety of teaching methodologies and training aids such as PowerPoint Presentations, DVDs, wall charts, demonstrations, in-depth hands-on training, and distinguished guest lecturers.
Representatives from our school partnerships will visit our campus regularly to continue to enhance the positive learning experience with the training that the Ivy Institute offers. We incorporate the Milady Standard Nail Technology textbook 8th Edition and Milady Standard Foundations textbook 1st Edition.
The 600-hour Manicurist course complies with the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers Examiners State Law that lists the rules and regulations for schools to adhere to in the State of Tennessee.
